How to Create a Website Step by Step
Media networks often popularise the view that the internet is just a hive of criminal activity and hackers are waiting to mug consumers and businesses of their life savings. Another common belief fuelled by the media is that e-commerce operators, such as online retailers have become overnight success stories. It is no wonder that many people may believe they are not clever enough to create a website or be successful at e-commerce.
It’s true that you will have a lot to learn if you get started in e-commerce but you do not need to know it all straight away. In fact, by the time you need to know most of it, you may already be making enough money from the internet to pay a web designer, or digital marketer, who already knows this stuff.
In this article I am going to show you how to build your very first website and have it running in less than 30 minutes, even if you have never built a website before. Website design and security are already taken care of. I am following this process using an instant website builder available on HileTech.com.au.
- Create an account at http://www.hiletech.com.au. It costs nothing to create an account and only takes about 45 seconds.
- Log in to your account. From the drop down menu at the top of the page, go to Domain Names then select My Domain Names from the drop down menu. If you do not already have a domain name, click Register Domains at the top of the page. A domain name is simply a name that people type into their internet browser to go directly to your web site.
- From the drop down menu at the top of the page, go to Build a Website and click My Websites from the list.
- If you do not yet have an instant website account, click the link on the bottom right of this page to purchase an account.
- After the page is refreshed you will see a popup notice that says congratulations, you have successfully created your account. When you click Ok, you should see a link at the top that reads Use Credit. Click this link to begin the setup process.
- When you see the new account on the list, click Setup on the right hand side. Enter your details in the new pop-up window and select the domain name you registered earlier as the domain name for your website.
- Click Ok. You will notice the Setup link has changed to Launch. Click Launch.
- Select a template from the list, add a blog or shopping cart if you wish and then click to start editing your page.
- Go to Design Your Pages, where you can start typing and editing your text with simple built in word processing tools and some more advanced features so you can post photos, feeds and more if you wish.
- Click Preview if you want to see the end result or Publish if you want to save the changes to your website right away. Now all you have you do is type in your domain name to see what your site will look like to the rest of the world.
You have probably been procrastinating because you did not know how simple building a website actually is. Perhaps you thought it would cost thousands of your hard earned money, when in fact you can start a website for less than $10 a month.
